Shaftesbury Service Point Open!

First Dorset Credit Union's Blackmore Vale Branch is proud to announce a new service point in Shaftesbury. It is in the vestibule of St Peters Church, in the High Street. We are open from 10am to 12 noon every market day (Thursday). (map)
This will complement the existing service point in Gillilngham on Saturdays 10-12.

Blandford Service Point – opening in the New Year

A new Service Point for Blandford will open early in 2010, in the Fellowship Room of the Methodist Church, next door to the Post Office.

Volunteers!

Helping to operate a Service Point is a rewarding and enjoyable experience, and involves as little as 2 ¾ hours a month by way of commitment.
Full training is given, full support and participation is guaranteed, and out-of-pocket expenses can be claimed.
All our Service Points are covered by Employers' Liability Insurance.

First Dorset at Glastonbury 2009

Carrie Baker Chair of the Blackmore Vale Branch was invited to speak at Glastonbury Festival on the topic of Credit unions, both her speach and radio interview were well received.
She also gained support from other speakers there including; Tony Benn (right), Nick Clegg, Michael Evis, and Mark Thomas.
And talked non-stop to people about Credit Unions all weekend. And saw Tom Jones - wow!

Credit unions offer low cost and flexible savings and loans services based on local 'service points' run on a cooperative basis by specially trained local volunteers, and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
Starting in Dorset in 1999 in Dorchester, First Dorset Credit Union now covers the whole of north and west Dorset with Service Points in Dorchester, Bridport, Weymouth, Portland, Sherborne, Gillingham, and Shaftesbury.
A new Service Point will open in Blandford early in 2010, and further  Service Points are planned for Sturminster Newton, Stalbridge, and Blandford Camp.
